![]() Some gamers don't mind reloading an older saved game when quests break, but I do. Ya see, if you're used to dining on kraft dinner then I'm sure you'll be thrilled with fried flank steak. Civ, if that's the "revivionist history" you refer to, I have only one thing to say to you: Because of this, I've been vocal in smacktalking anyone complaining about how it was a buggy mess. The only bug I experienced playing the vanilla release was having to nade open the very first trader's door. Otherwise, this is nothing like SoC as far as initial bugginess goes. I did this four times and three times it hung on me. The game accepts no input when it hangs like that and you're forced to shut down the game with taskmgr. I did come across a single bug in which a certain task with which you're directed to speak with the Colonel results in the Colonel just standing there looking at you but still animated. Of course, you can spend hours on one map and you can 'stack' your tasks so as to minimize map changes, so it doesn't matter all the time. Other than the loading screens, I can't think of anything else that sucked in the game. Going to CS from SoC was kind of disappointing because most areas were used in both games.Īs mentioned above, it's too easy, even on the hardest difficulty. I especially like that all the areas were new. Other than that, it was like the best aspects of SoC & CS rolled into one awesome game. There were times when I was spending more time looking at loading screens.īe nice if we had the option to load more than one map in memory. They're are many aspects of the game in which you need to talk to one guy on a map and go almost immediately to talk to a guy on another map. I love almost every aspect about it except the loading screens. Better than Fallout 3 and Oblivion.įinished the game yesterday afternoon. There are definite polish and other issues with the game, but it's been addictive. Overall the experience has been incredible thus far. I have an exoskeleton body it's better than the power armor except for the ability to sprint, which won't come back until much later in the game. There's one long ramp in the second zone that keeps looping alternating bandits and monsters, so that was a funny place to loot while searching for artifacts. Otherwise I trade with them and leave them alone. Out of guilt I don't kill anyone unless a random encounter kills a guy, so I'll go loot his corpse. Ended up with a sweet ass sniper rifle, so I call it my mission reward.ĭo the factions keep track of who you kill? Seems like when I'm out in the zone it's kosher to kill bandits and STALKERs alike, even though they're neutral to me. Put my shotgun barrel into his mouth and ended his misery. Very stable and fun for me, although one mission had a guy stuck in an infinite loop sniping at nothing. I may get around to the first game, but it seems like there are a few downgrades and bugs from what I'm ready. Never tried any of the previous STALKER games.
